Ann Luu: Our Daily Rituals

Ann Luu: Our Daily Rituals

Posted by Wilet Home on

Daily rituals mean something different for everyone. From meditation, to using serums and powders, to embracing productivity practices - sometimes it can be overwhelming!

Ann Luu, Weather Anchor for CTV Vancouver News, keeps it delightfully simple with her rituals - eat, and sleep. Sign us up, we can definitely get on board with that.

Name:

Ann Luu

Current occupation:

Weather Anchor

Dream occupation:

A travel eater - travelling around the world eating all the food without having to spend any money!

Where were you born?

Vietnam

Where do you live now?

Vancouver

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family:

I am married to the best guy in the world who is a fabulous cook and we are living our best lives with our two senior Boston Terriers, Ramsay & Nitro.

When do you usually wake up in the morning? Do you use an alarm clock?

I wake up at 7:15am three days a week to make it to my gym class. I only set an alarm on the days that I have to go to the gym. Every other day, I'm up when Nitro makes me get up, which can be anytime between 7am and 8am.

Tell us a little bit about your morning routine (and what, if anything, makes getting up easier). Do you have a specific product/ritual that helps you get up and face the day?

Nothing makes getting up easier! I love sleep. I would stay in bed all day if I could. My morning routine is simple and easy: wake up, wash my face and brush my teeth, then feed the dogs. Again, depending on the morning, I will either go to the gym, or hang out with Ramsay & Nitro before I have to go to work - a quick walk if it's not rainy, or a quick play indoors if it is.

Do you have any important rituals you practice throughout your day?

No important rituals, unless you count eating so I don't get hangry.

Naps. Tell us about them. We love them, but can barely squeeze them in our busy schedules (and sincerely regret every nap we passed up as children). Do you ever nap?

I love naps. I would nap all day every day if I could - would it still be called a nap then? I will sometimes sneak in a nap right after I wake up in the morning with the dogs if they wake me up too early. In the summer, our favourite nap spot is the patio! We always nap on the weekends. Sometimes twice.

What time do you usually go to bed?

I usually go to bed between 9pm and 10pm, depending on my husband's schedule.

Tell us a little bit about your evening routine. Do you have a specific product/ritual that gets you ready for a good night's sleep?

You will hate me for saying this, but I am a great sleeper. I love sleep (have I mentioned that yet?) so I need to do very little to ensure a good night's sleep. Every night I just take a shower and hit the sack!

How much sleep do you usually get a night/how much importance do you place on sleep?

After my family, sleep is the most important thing in my life. I can't function without it. On average, I get 9 to 10 hours of sleep a night.

Do you have a favourite bedtime story from childhood?

I always loved reading Love You Forever by Robert Munsch to the kids I used to babysit.

Have you slept in linen bedding? If yes, what did you think? If not, would you like to?

We've never slept in linen bedding until Flax Sleep. I was skeptical at first, but after the first night, it was amazing. I thought it would be scratchy, but it was so soft, so breathable and had weight to it, but was light at the same time. We're believers now and love the linen life :).
